Knights’ offense erupts in 11th straight win

Tajah Warren scored 22 points in Eisenhower's 83-60 win over Sheffield on Saturday. The victory was the 11 straight for the Knights.

To say that Eisenhower’s offense was firing on all cylinders on Saturday would be an understatement.

The Knights scored a whopping 36 points in the first quarter en route to an 83-60 win over county rival Sheffield, extending their win streak to 11 games in the process.

Nine different players found the scoring column for Eisenhower and five reached double figures, led by Tajah Warren’s 22 points and Zack Fincher’s 19.

“The starters only played three quarters, but looked pretty good,” said Eisenhower coach Ryan Williams. “We really didn’t put much in on defense and were playing without our point guard.”

Troy Myer, the Knights’ aforementioned lead guard, was forced to sit this one out due to injury, but Ike couldn’t be slowed down, despite the best efforts of Sheffield’s Cale Albaugh.

Albaugh poured in a game-high 34 points, including eight 3s. After a somewhat quiet start, Albaugh heated up, scoring 30 of his 34 in the final three quarters.

The Knights (15-6) led 36-10 after the first quarter and 53-29 at halftime.

Jaydon Hayes scored 11 points and Alex Fincher and Nick Smelko 10 each for Eisenhower.

Albaugh was the only Sheffield (1-19) player in double figures, although Matt Dunham did finish with nine points.

The Wolverines won an exciting junior varsity contest, 45-43 in overtime.

Conner Johnson led the Wolverines with 14 points, including three in the all-important OT period. Mitch McNeal also had 12 points for Sheffield. Owen Trumbull had 13 points and Drew Williams 11 for Ike.

The Knights close out the regular season before heading into the District 10 playoffs against county rival Youngsville on Tuesday. They will most likely receive a first round bye.
