Eight is great

Ike boys win eighth in a row at Saegertown

Eisenhower’s Nick Smelko drives baseline during the second half of the Knights’ 57-39 win over Maplewood on Wednesday.

Eisenhower’s boys basketball took away any doubt early about whether they’d win their eight straight game at Saegertown Friday.

The Knights (12-6 overall, 9-2 Region 3) blanked the Panthers (3-16, 2-9) 17-0 in the first quarter en route to a 63-29 win.

Eisenhower didn’t let up in the second quarter and rolled to a 44-9 halftime lead.

Jaydon Hayes led the Knights with 15 points, while Tajah Warren had 12 and Nick Smelko added 10 in the win.

Eisenhower will look for its ninth consecutive win when the Knights host Union City Tuesday.
