District 10 releases playoff brackets

Troy Myer and the Eisenhower Knights received a first round by in the District 10 Class 2A playoffs.

District 10 released its 2018 playoff brackets Wednesday morning, with the three Warren County teams who are represented receiving the news they expected.

Both the Warren Lady Dragons and Eisenhower Knights received first round byes, while the Warren boys will play host to a first round game Friday at 7 p.m.

The Dragons will play George Junior Republic at their home gym on Friday at 7 p.m. in the 14-team Class 4A field

Warren enters with a record of 9-12, while GJR checks in at 6-14 in the ultra-competitive south, playing in Region 5.

The winner will play Grove City (16-5) in the quarterfinals next Thursday at a site and time to be determined. District 10 takes four teams from Class 4A to the state tournament.

The Warren girls (11-11), meanwhile, who wrapped up their regular season with a win against Southwestern on Wednesday, will wait more than a week before playing General McLane (17-5) next Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Prep-Villa Events Center in the quarterfinals.

The winner will meet either Slippery Rock, Grove City or Corry in the semifinals.

The Lady Dragons started the season 1-8 against a brutal schedule, but have won 10 of their last 13 games.

The Eisenhower Knights, the second place team out of Region 3, will meet the winner of the first round contest between Maplewood (5-14) and Wilmington (11-11) in the quarterfinals next Friday at 6 p.m. at the Prep-Villa Events Center.

Ike (16-6) will enter the season will the second longest active win-streak in District 10, trailing only Sharon.
