Curwensville too much for Wolverines

Sheffield battled, but in the end Josh Terry and Curwensville were just too much.

Terry poured in a game-high 26 points as the Golden Tide topped the Wolverines 69-46 on Friday.

“They came out and started torching us, so we had to switch from zone to man defense,” said Sheffield coach Mike Knapp.

Still, the Wolverines were able to stay within striking distance, down just 30-21 at halftime.

The Golden Tide continued their hot shooting in the second half, however, and extended the lead to 16.

“If we would have made our layups and foul shots it would have been a little closer,” Knapp said. “It was a very physical game and they were able to knock down their foul shots. We played hard, we hung around for a while, but we just weren’t consistent enough.”

Matt Dunahm and Tyler Hepinger had 11 points each to pace Sheffield, while Luke Davidson had 10 points and nine rebounds and Dunahm also had five assists and three steals.
