Knights drop Region 3 road contest to Iroquois, 62-56

LAWRENCE PARK – Iroquois outscored Eisenhower 19-11 in the fourth quarter as the Knights dropped a Region 3 road contest on Tuesday, 62-56.

Nick Bonninger, who scored a game-high 23 points, nailed a pair of key 3’s in the final eight minutes to help the Braves (6-5 overall, 3-2 Region 6) to the win.

“Doesn’t’ matter who or where we play, it’s tough to win when you give up 62 points,” said Eisenhower coach Ryan Williams.

Tajah Warren got the Knights (4-6, 2-2) off to a strong start, scoring 10 of his team-high 18 points in the first quarter.

Leading scorer Jaydon Hayes, who came in averaging 24.1 ppg., scored 14 points despite being in foul trouble most of the second half.

Zack Fincher hit three second-half 3’s for the Knights, scoring 17 points.

The Knights were doomed at the foul line, making just 9-of-21, while Iroquois was 17-of-24.

“Nine of 21 doesn’t help from the free throw line,” noted Williams. “Still fought hard against a good team.”

Eisenhower will look to get back to its winning ways with another Region 3 road contest today against Union City, with Hayes 34 points away from 1,000 for his career.
