Youngsville tops Iroquois

LAWRENCE PARK – Youngsivlle opened its Region 3 schedule with a big 56-43 road win over Iroquois on Wednesday.

Emma Marino, Caitlin Craig and Andrea Sveda all had strong games for the winners. Marino had 18 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, four steals and six blocks, just missing a triple-double, while Craig had 16 points and Sveda six points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles (2-1 overall, 1-0 Region 3) jumped out to a 14-8 late after the first quarter and 31-18 at halftime en route to the win.

“We played well,” said Youngsville coach Andy Sveda. “We’re definetly getting better, running our plays better. There are just things we have to keep improving at.”
