Eisenhower, Youngsville girls drop tourney games

KANE – The trio of Alexis Constantino, Wendy Beveridge and KK Girvan combined for 54 points as Clarion knocked off Eisenhower 62-33 in the opening round of the Kane Christmas Tournament.

A 19-7 run in the second quarter put Clarion (2-4) up 16 at halftime, and they maintained control throughout the second half.

“Tonight we had trouble with their dribble-drive offense and staying in front of their three guards – Beveridge, Constantino and Girvan,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “They were able to convert off of a lot of turnovers as well.”

Emily Wheeler, Eisenhower’s (3-4) leading scorer on the young season, finished in double figures with 12 points.

The Lady Knights will meet host Kane in the consolation game tomorrow at 6 p.m., as North Clarion came back for a 61-49 win over the Lady Wolves in a battle of early-season unbeatens.

Eisenhower’s JV team will play for the tournament championship against North Clarion after earning a 34-26 win over Clarion.

Shelby Kuzminski and Caroline Smelko had eight points each.

The JV game will be at 4:30 p.m. today, followed by the varsity at 6 p.m. in the consolation game.
