Wilson shoots career-best 69 to take commanding lead in first round of D-10 girls golf championship

Warren’s Rachel Wilson shot a 3-under par 69 on Thursday in the first round of the District 10 3A Girls Golf Championships at the Country Club of Meadville.

MEADVILLE – Rachel Wilson is playing her best golf of the year, maybe the best golf of her life, at the perfect time.

The Lady Dragon senior, who has competed with the boys team this season, carded a three-under 69 at the Country Club of Meadville on Thursday in the first round of the District 10 3A Girls Golf Championships.

She has a commanding 9-shot lead over Kymmy Henry of Villa and is 16 shots clear of Natalie Brosig of McDowell who is third place.

The final round is Saturday, with the top two qualifying for the Western Regional, which will be held on Monday, Oct. 16 at Tom’s Run in Blairsville.
