Eisenhower boys score cross country win
WATERFORD – Eisenhower’s opening Region 4 cross country meets against Fort LeBoeuf and Corry couldn’t have been any closer on Tuesday.
The Knights edged Corry 27-28 and fell to LeBoeuf 27-28.
Tyler Burnell and Ethan Kellogg led the boys with fourth and fifth place finishes respectively.
“We knew from looking at the results of the McDowell Invitational that the boys race was going to be close,” said Eisenhower coach Darlene Beach. “All three dual races were decided by one point. It was great for the guys to get their first win against Corry. We’ll get another shot at Fort LeBoeuf at the Blue Devil Invitational in a couple of weeks.”
John Curtis of Corry won the boys race (17:53).
The girls fell in both races and were led by Lily Fedorchuk’s 14th place finish. Corry’s Malbry Joquitin won the girls race (21:55).
“Both Fort LeBoeuf and Corry have strong girls teams,” Beach said. “Lily Fedorchuk did a nice job breaking into Corry’s top seven. I was proud of how the kids ran today. The times at Picnicana Park aren’t fast because of the terrain, but it’s a good course.”
