Dragons, Eagles turn in strong efforts at Harbor Creek
HARBOR CREEK – Warren and Youngsville traveled to Harbor Creek in their Region 4 openers.
The host Huskies edged Warren in the girls meet, 28-31, while the HC boys also beat both the Dragons and Eagles,
Each team turned in some impressive performances, however, as Warren sophomore Naomi Hahn won the girls race in 20:37.05, while the Dragons’ Troy Shattuck finished fourth in the boys race (18:32.92).
“Today we saw a lot of good individual performances, as we were without a full squad for either varsity team,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “Troy Shattuck led our boys team tying his personal best time and Naomi Hahn ran a strong race to lead all girls. We are ready to get a good solid week of training in before our next meet and have a lot to take away from the start of our season.”
Youngsville’s Aaron Morris finished seventh (19:51.52) and teammate Mik Fehlman crossed the finish line right behind him in eighth place (19:55.70).
“This was the first cross country race for many of my runners and they handled it very and put forth some good times,” said Youngsville coach Adam Green. “For the first race of the season, the whole team performed very well. Some have to work on pacing and that will improve their time.”
