Warren softball bounces back with 16-1 win over Central Tech

Warren’s Morgan Munksgard gets set to take off from third base during Thursday’s game against Central.

Warren was looking to get the bad taste out of its mouth following a late-inning loss to Corry on Wednesday.

Consider the mission accomplished, as the Lady Dragons rolled to a 16-1, 3-inning win over Central Tech.

Warren got solid contributions up and down the lineup, led by Julia Lobdell, who was 2-for-2 with four RBI.

The Lady Dragons (3-1) wasted no time, scoring seven runs in the first inning, getting RBIs from Gracie Wood, Kiersten Hoffman, Ellie Lobdell, Grace Wortman and Julia Lobdell.

They sent 11 batters to the plate, which was followed by a 4-run second inning, taking advantage of a pair of Central errors.

Warren second baseman Julia Lobdell throws to first baseman Maddie Loutzenhiser for an out during Thursday’s game against Central.

The game ended with one out in the bottom of the third, as Hoffman and Ellie Lobdell delivered RBI hits before Julia Lobdell cleared the bases to end it.

On the mound, Ellie Lobdell’s run was unearned, as didn’t give up a hit and struck out seven.

“A friend recently told me, ‘to be a successful athlete, you have to have a short memory,'” said Warren coach Jon Sitler.

“We had one day to get over a region loss at Corry, and I thought we came out against Central with passion and focus. Like I said yesterday, we have a lot to work on at practice, but there’s one thing we can always control — effort. I thought we gave good effort today.”

Leadoff hitter Alexis Nyquist drew a pair of walks and also had an RBI single, while Megan Wortman, Wood, Morgan Munksgard and Grace Wortman all crossed the plate multiple times.

Warren returns to action on Monday, traveling to Fort LeBoeuf
