Dragon netters remain unbeaten with win over Rocky Grove

Caleb Ei and the Warren tennis team moved to 8-0 with a win over Rocky Grove on Tuesday.

The Warren Dragons tennis team moved to 8-0 on the year with a 5-0 victory over Rocky Grove on Tuesday.

At first singles, Jimmy Lobdell remained perfect on the year with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Hunter Moon.

“Jimmy continues to play very well. He was in complete control today,” said head coach Jon Meyer.

At second singles, Lionel Eason defeated Zach Stryffeler 6-3, 7-5.

“Zach is a very consistent player. Lionel had to step up his game today. He was able to outlast him and pick up a big win,” said assistant coach John Parroccini.

At third singles, Alex Fincher defeated Chance Masterson 6-0, 6-0.

“Alex played very well today in all facets of his game,” said Meyer.

Both of the Dragons doubles teams won 6-0, 6-0. Caleb Ei and Simon Smith defeated Kendall Straub and Hannah Young at first doubles and Colin Blair and Cade Poston defeated Shannon Birsa and Forest Heasley at second doubles.

“Both doubles teams played excellent tennis today,” said Parroccini.

In exhibition play, Andrew Beyer and Stephen Ashbaugh defeated Josh John and Jacob Tichenor 8-6. A.J. Seyler and Bryce McCracken defeated Paul Cappello and Fletcher Blumquist 8-6. Curtis Lasecki and Chandler Cummings defeated Josh John and Derek Lipiniski 6-2. Lipinski and James Lawson defeated Eli Korb and Nick Lindsay 8-6 and Ethan Massa and Aidan Colosimo defeated Owen Peterson and Paul Cappello 8-4.

The Dragons are 8-0 on the year and 4-0 in Region 2. They are home on Wednesday against Titusville. The match begins at 4 pm.
