Dragons fall at SV; Bulldogs drop close one with Forest Area

Warren ran into one of the area’s top teams on Thursday, falling to Strong Vincent by a final score of 86-35 at Gannon’s Hammermill Center.

The win marked No. 300 for Strong Vincent coach Shannon Pulliam, who had originally planned on stepping down this season to coach at Mercyhurst North East. Tennessee State recruit David Morris led the Colonels with 20 points while Aje Gore added 17 and Jerome Henderson finished with 13.

“They’re the best team in our region and best in the district,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “They’re much, much better than we are at this time.”

Jake Kupchella had 11 points and five assists for the Dragons, who have a week to rest up before finishing up with a pair of important region games. Warren visits Harbor Creek on Friday, Feb. 10 and travels to Corry on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Forest 41, TCCS 37

The Tidioute Bulldogs started strong but were unable to finish the same in a 41-37 loss to Forest Area on Thursday.

“It’s just maturity — that’s all it is,” said Tidioute coach Terry Cotterman. “Our motto is start strong, finish strong. Tonight we didn’t finish strong.”

Maison DeLoe had a big game for the Bulldogs, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Patrick Shields added eight points, nine rebounds and seven blocks while Jared Veasey also grabbed nine boards.

Tidioute returns to action Monday against North Clarion.
