COCHRANTON 53,

EISENHOWER 28

COCHRANTON – Eisenhower concluded its regular season on Monday at Region 3 champion Cochranton. The result was a 53-28 victory for the hosts, but the Lady Knights put up a fight for much of the contest.

“I thought at times we played very well,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “In the first quarter we went toe-to-toe with them and then had a little let down. We fought back though and at one point it was 17-12 in the second quarter.”

In the blink of an eye, the Lady Cardinals (18-2) went on a 16-0 run to close the half, thanks in large part to Alissa Dickson. The sophomore scored 12 of her game-high 16 points during the surge.

The Lady Knights (8-14) didn’t quit, however, as Kirsten Baran led the way with 15 points and four blocks.

“I thought we came out and played hard in the third and fourth quarters,” Logue said. “They (Cochranton) can all shoot from the outside and they play at a high speed.”

Delaney Nizzi added five assists, while Emily Wheeler and Lydia Giannini had four rebounds apiece.

Ike now awaits its first round opponent in the District 10 2A playoffs. Brackets are expected to be released on Wednesday, with first round game being played on Saturday.

“We’re excited,” he said. “We’re young and a lot of our freshmen and sophomores who might not know what to expect. It’s a whole new season, a different animal. You have to come ready to play hard for 32 minutes.”
