Sheffield girls fall in AML North battle with Ridgway

Sheffield's Lexi Lyon drives the lane during Friday's game against Ridgway.

Sheffield dropped its third straight game Friday night, falling to the visiting Ridgway Lady Elkers 61-13.

Sheffield dug a hole from the start, down 8-0, midway through the first quarter, however Mya Grubbs was able to sink three foul shots, while Lexi Lyon scored four points of her own to keep the Lady Wolverines in the game 15-7 heading into the second quarter.

“We dug ourselves a hole and we fought out of it,” said Sheffield head coach Brandon Troutman. “It was awesome.”

The Lady Elkers turned up the heat on Sheffield for the remaining three quarters, ultimately coming away with 28 turnovers and outscoring Sheffield by double digits in each quarter.

“We stopped fighting,” said Troutman. “Its just frustrating. Absolutely frustrating.”

Sheffield’s Marissa Grubbs stretches out to stop the Lady Elkers' offense in a 61-13 loss Friday night at home.

The Lady Wolverines’ loss drops their overall record to 2-8 and in 0-1 in the AML North. Sheffield will host Smethport in a varsity only matchup this Monday, with a start time of 6:30 p.m.
