Grubbs lifts Sheffield girls past Tidioute in thriller, 46-45

Mya Grubbs connected on a 15 footer with 10 seconds to go to give Sheffield a thrilling 46-45 victory over Tidioute Charter in girl’s basketball action on Tuesday in Tidioute.

Tidioute held a three point lead at halftime, but the Lady Wolverines got hot in the third quarter, outscoring Tidioute 17-9 to take the lead.

Tidioute was able to storm back and take the lead, but Grubbs came through in the clutch to give Sheffield their second win a year after going 0-22.

“Foul trouble reeked havoc for us,” said Tidioute coach Christy Valentine. “Most girls on both teams played two games of basketball (including the JV game) and both teams played their hearts out. It was an exciting game, and congratulations to the Wolverines for coming out on top.”

Sheffield got  huge games from Lexi Lyon, who scored 10 points and hauled down 14 rebounds, and Davidson who scored 15 points and grabbed ten boards.

Nakiesha Krouse had a big game with 19 points for Tidioute, while Lakin Krouse had 8 assists, Sunny Henderson had 10 points and 8 rebounds, and Greysen Fors  pulled down 9 rebounds.

Both teams will return to action Thursday, with Sheffield hsoting Kane and Tidioute traveling to Erie First.
