EISENHOWER 63, SENECA 6

Eisenhower won all but one match, cruising to a 63-6 victory over Seneca on Wednesday.

The Knights won seven of eight contested matches and picked up three forfeit wins as well.

“The kids wrestled well,” said Ike coach Kris Black. “We got a lot of forfeits, but the kids that wrestled were real aggressive. Even the match we lost, (Sam) Holt was tied right at the end of the match and just got caught trying to make something happen. I was very pleased with the effort overall.”

Black also pointed out individual efforts from younger wrestlers.

“I was real happy with a lot of the younger guys,” he said. “Thomas Baran wrestled really well. Justin Hagberg got a big win, he’s just getting better as time goes on. Alex Barnett wrestled a guy he had lost to before and got a big win and almost got a major decision. Those guys are making us better as a team each day.”

Ike also got wins from Garrett Head, Spencer Head, Alex Barnett, Matt Huling, John Bortz, Julia Raventos, Logan Jaquay, Josh Bortz, and Nate Holt.

Ike will wrestle again next Wednesday when they host Iroquois.
