Ike grapplers drop first match at Saegertown

Eisenhower had a tough assignment in their first match of the 2016-2017 season, falling 69-9 to Saegertown on Tuesday.

The Knights got a decision from Spencer Head at 160 and a pin from Freshman Logan Jaquay at 113, but the Panthers were able to take the other 14 matches, including ten pins.

Despite the score, there are positives to take from matches like this, said Ike coach Kris Black.

“We’re young, and facing one of the best teams in the district is tough in your first match,” Black said. “This gives us an idea of where we’re at and what we need to work on. We had no seniors in the lineup today. There were some positives in the matches we lost, even in the ones we got pinned in.”

Eisenhower will return to action Thursday when they host North East.
