Eagles return to the field
Youngsville played its first football game in three weeks on Friday night.
Cambridge Springs didn’t seem to care.
The Devils jumped out to a 19-0 lead after one, extended the lead to 35-0 at the break while working in backups in the second quarter and shut the Eagles down, holding Youngsville to just 50 yards offense.
While Youngsville forfeited the last two weeks citing low numbers and injuries games against Farrell and West Middlesex the Eagles dressed 20 for Friday night’s contest.
Cambridge Spring quarterback Noah Reisenhauer and running back Cody Lanning made sure the doors were blown open early.
Reisenauer capped a four minute scoring drive to kick off the same with a one yard touchdown run and then a nine yard touchdown run coming off of a Youngsville fumble. Later in the period, he connected with receiver Trent Merry for a 52 passing score.
Lanning followed up with an 11 yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. He finished with 112 yards on the ground while Reisenhauer finished with 43 rushing, 94 passing and combining for three touchdowns.
The two teams combined to fumble 11 times but Cambridge Springs didn’t lose any while Youngsville lost four.
While the Eagles weren’t able to get anything moving on offense, senior punter Levi Hendrickson had a good night, booming multiple 50 yard punts.
Mason Benjamin led the Eagles with 49 rushing yards, 34 of which came on the last play of the game.
The Eagles drop to 1-8 with the loss.
Youngsville is set to finish the season next Friday with a home game against Sheffield. Officials at Youngsville have been making weekly Monday announcements on the status of that week’s game.
