The Warren County Redevelopment Authority learned at its meeting Tuesday morning of yet another month's progress for several properties that have been under review.
RDA Solicitor Andrea Stapleford told authority members that Wanda Miller, owner of a blighted property in Clarendon, is scheduled to sign over the deed on Wednesday so Clarendon Borough can take possession. The building will still need to be demolished.
Joe Scully, Glade Township supervisor, had some updated information on the Emily Hecei property on E. Fifth Avenue. "I heard she is trying to get a grant for a new septic system, but nothing has come across my desk," he said.
Lorri Dunlap, county grant administrator, volunteered to contact Hecei with information about the U.S. Department of Agriculture and PENNVEST grant programs. Authority member Jamie Steffan asked Dunlap to get an update from Hecei when she speaks with her.
Steffan also reported that he had driven by the Michelle Hoover property in Sheffield Township, and the door and some windows had been replaced.
"It looks vacant, but it is secure," he said.
He added that it is still somewhat of an eyesore, but eyesores do not constitute blight. "I recommend we take it off our list," he said, and authority members voted to do so.
Stapleford reported that a trailer in Pleasant Township belonging to Tonya Elletson had been demolished.
"The structure itself is gone, but there is still debris on the property," she said.
Scully asked if that would be a township issue through a nuisance ordinance, rather than a blight issue.
Steffan suggested, "We could keep it on the agenda for one more month," and authority member Terry Hawk said, "It wouldn't hurt."
Judy Smith attended the meeting with an update on the property at 463 Pleasant Drive. She said several planned sales of the property had fallen through because of a lack of financing, so she brought in a signed contract with Black Jack Trucking and Excavating for demolition. She said the house would be torn down by the end of September.
The final property on the list, 819 Cider Mill Hill Road in Russell owned by Francis Matsock, has seen no work since last month, and Stapleford said she will continue to pursue a conservatorship.
