The cause of the fire that gutted the Barley Home in North Warren early Sunday morning is undetermined.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Jon McClain, the fire likely started in the northeast corner of the first floor, but due to the extensive wreckage, including the collapsed roof, he could not find the cause.
"I'm going to rule the fire as undetermined," McClain said Monday afternoon.
He investigated the site of the fire from about 7:30 a.m. until about noon Sunday.
The fire was first reported at 2:30 a.m.
"The origin appears to be the right front room on the first floor," he said. "Due to the collapse, I can't get in there and excavate the room any further."
He confirmed that there was electrical service connected to the building at the time of the fire.
McClain said his investigation is over, adding that it is possible a private party or insurance company could investigate further.
