Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church, 9215 Jackson Run Rd., will have a rummage, bake, food and silent auction from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26. The public is invited to come and see all the items available. Glazed donuts will be available in the morning.
Reflexology will be taught at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Relax and unwind with hand and foot reflexology taught by Denny Mason. He will also talk about "takefumi," the Japanese tradition of walking on bamboo, a practice that provides instant soothing relief for sore aching feet.
AOC on the move
On Friday, July 25, The Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will ride bikes in the Youngsville/Garland area. The ride will be 15 miles round-trip and will include a lunch stop at Double D's restaurant in Garland then a wade in Brokenstraw Creek. Reunion Aug. 2
Descendants of Emmett and Bessie Smith and extended family members will gather beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Davis Street Pavilion, Youngsville. Participants should take a dish to share, table service and soft drinks. There will be a white elephant auction and a 50/50 drawing, lots of fun, games and prizes. Pre-K PA needs readers
Pre-K PA, a campaign promoting high-quality education for all 3 and 4 year olds in Pennsylvania, will be at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second Ave., Warren, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, offering a free story time for toddler to preschool aged children and siblings. YHS Alumni Weekend planned
The annual Youngsville High School Alumni Weekend will be held Sept. 25-27. On Thursday, the homecoming parade and bonfire will be held at Mike Shine Field at 7 p.m. On Friday, there will be a tour of the high school (gather at the side entrance) at 5:30 p.m. and the homecoming football game at 7 p.m. Saturday will include an alumni breakfast at Richard's Restaurant in Youngsville at 9 a.m. and the alumni dinner buffet at Youngsville Fire Hall from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Reservations are required, and the cost will be $10. The alumni dance will follow dinner at the fire hall from 8 p.m. to midnight at a cost of $10 per person. Music will be provided by the band "Trixx." All events are open to the public. Wenzel reunion planned
The 103rd annual reunion of the descendants of Henry and Salome Kashner Wenzel will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Werner Park in Russell, under the pavilion. Chip Wenzel will prepare chicken barbecue and roasted corn on the cob. He and his assistants will arrive around 9 a.m. to start preparing the barbecue and reminiscing. Participants should take a tureen to share, table service and beverage. Mavis Campbell has volunteered to provide the 103rd year celebration cake to be served later in the afternoon. All descendants are encouraged to attend.
