While all district programs have a home amid the building shuffles across the Warren County School District, Head Start might be left out in the cold.
The district's board of directors approved agreements on Monday that would allow Head Start to utilize space at Allegheny Valley Elementary School in Clarendon for the first semester of the 2014-2015 school year and space at Youngsville High School for the entirety of next year.
Both agreements charge Head Start $5.15 per square foot per year. The annual charge totals $8,111.
WCSD Director of Buildings and Grounds Dr. Norbert Kennerknecht said that the agreement at AVES terminates on Jan. 26, 2015, to correspond with the closure of the school.
"Do they have another location to occupy after that time?" Board Vice President Donna Zariczny asked.
"We want to put out a safe play on what we knew we could offer," said Director of Administrative Support Services Amy Stewart.
She said available district space would be tied to "where their population is," explaining that they have maintained two classrooms in Youngsville.
"(We) don't have a lot of room in Warren to offer them," she added, "(and) with Sheffield just opening, (we) don't want to take on that burden until we get settled."
Zariczny asked if Head Start was aware of the "limitations."
"They knew that last year," Stewart said.
