It was stated in the Times Observer that some of the attendees at the parking meeting pointed out that in New York City and Washington, D. C., the charge is $2.00 per hour. That's cheap for those cities, but how does that justify $2.00 per hour for little Warren? I would not patronize downtown businesses if the $2.00 fee is adopted.
Instead of buying and installing 233 meters at $800 each, why not convert all the present meters to 1/2 hour and 1 hour and charge the $2.00 fee per hour.
If it is successful, start digging up the sidewalks for the 233 new meters. If is not, you have your answer and you saved $186,400.
