Hubert E. Saxton, age 81, of Tionesta, PA, died on Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home in Tionesta. He was born August 26, 1932 in Tionesta, son of the late Ray H. and Waive (Cropp) Saxton Cussins.
On May 31, 1958 at the Tionesta Church of God he married Clara Jane (Benedict) Saxton, who survives. Saturday will mark their 56th wedding anniversary.
Hubert attended the Tionesta Church of God where he taught Sunday school, served as a youth leader, and served on the board of trustees. He previously was a coowner of Saxton and Brown Drilling of Pleasantville, and was the owner of Hubert Saxton Water Well until retiring in 1995. During his entire life he owned and operated the family farm. He graduated from Tionesta High School in 1950, was a member of the Tionesta Lions Club, and an avid member of the National Rifle Association. He also served on the Forest County Planning/Conservation Board. Hubert served his country during the Korean War in the US Army.
In addition to his wife, had is survived by two sons, Ray H. Saxton and his wife Denise of Tionesta. Charles I. Saxton and his wife Nicole, also of Tionesta. Two daughters, Yvonne Michali and her husband Dennis of Erie, PA. Julie J. Fryman of Tionesta. 11 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren. A sister, Elsie Remine of Tionesta. Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Orville H. Cussins. Two sisters, Katherine Ulan and Juanita Gigliotti.
Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Thursday from 24 and 68 pm. Friends will then be received on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 1011 am at the Tionesta Church of God followed by Celebration of Life services at 11 am at the church with Pastor David A. Hart and Pastor Terry E. McGarrity officiating clergy. Burial will be at Mt. Collins Cemetery in Tionesta.
