Quilts at Cancer Center

May 13, 2014
Times Observer

Thanks to Warren General Hospital Auxiliary and a local group called Art Link, the hallways of the WGH Cancer Center are always colorful. Bringing sunshine and color into the lives of the many patients walking through the doors of the Cancer Center, WGH volunteer Martha Adams and Carol Songer of the Quilters Night Out Guild, have been coordinating a year long show of quilts and quilt pieces in the hallways of the Cancer Center. The current quilts featured are those made by members of the Cozy Quilt Ministries of Russell. Karen Martin, group leader, is shown here with one of the many quilts and matching denim bags. The quilts and bags, along with handmade pillows and an inspirational book are given as gifts to the cancer patients. These quilts on display add so much color and hominess to the building and are a magnificent show for patients, families and staff to view and enjoy. They then serve a more important role as they warm the hearts and bodies of those receiving care at the center.
