Warren's baseball team ended a 4-0 week with a 7-0 non-region shutout win over Strong Vincent Saturday at Old Legion Field.
That's eight wins in a row for the Dragons, who are 10-3 overall and 6-1 and in first place in Region 7.
The Dragons are at Girard for a region game on Monday and then at Harbor Creek Wednesday for what could decide the region title and a top seed in the District 10 Class AAA playoffs. The Huskies are tied in the loss column with Warren at 5-1 in the region.
"It was a real good week," said Warren coach Rick Eaton. "Yesterday (Saturday) was a good game because I got to play a lot of kids. We got off to a good start."
Austin Schwanke got things started with a first-inning triple and Jason Stanton eventually singled him home. After an error on Strong Vincent's third baseman scored another, Tanner Teconchuk's two-run single gave Warren a 4-0 lead.
Collin Fantaskey finished 2-for-4 and Todd Fasenmyer 2-for-3 for Warren, which had nine hits.
Darin Francisco held Strong Vincent to two hits over five scoreless innings, and Sage Anderson and Jimmy Vile completed the shutout over Strong Vincent (2-4).
In a 10-0 junior varsity win, Anderson, Vile and Seth Baldensperger combined a two-hitter, striking out seven. Derek Reagle had two doubles.
