Warren used a masterful pitching performance from Collin Fantaskey and solid all-around defense to defeat Fort LeBoeuf, 2-0, in a Region 7 baseball game held Thursday at Old Legion Field.
The Dragons took a permanent lead in the bottom of the first inning. Fantaskey led off with a double down the left field line, and advanced to third on Austin Schwanke's ground out. Tanner Stanz then drove Fantaskey in with a sacrifice fly to right to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead.
Warren added another run in second. Tanner Teconchuk reached on an error to lead off the inning. After John White sacrificed him to second base, Austin Schwanke drove Teconchuk home with a single up the middle and gave the Dragons their second and final run.
The remainder of the game was dominated by Fantaskey's right arm. He struck out eight Fort LeBoeuf batters and only allowed two hits, a single in the first and a double in the seventh. Those two hits were the only balls to reach the outfield for the Bisons. The defense was error-free behind Fantaskey as well, and turned two double plays.
"We executed well early, but not so much late," said Warren head coach Rick Eaton, whose Dragons improve to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in Region 7. "We made some mental mistakes, but got enough pitching and defense to get away with it."
Schwanke and Derek Reagle led Warren with two hits apiece, and Tanner Stanz added a double. Eight Dragons had at least one hit.
The Dragons will stay busy through the weekend - weather permitting - hosting rival Corry on Friday and Strong Vincent on Saturday at Old Legion Field.
Warren also took the junior varsity game, winning 12-0. Mark Reiff, Seth Baldensperger, and Jimmy Vile all had two hits. Baldensperger picked up the win on the hill for the Dragons.

EISENHOWER 5, NORTHWESTERN 0
One Northwestern hit was all that stood between sophomore Casey Vincent and his second consecutive no-hitter Thursday in a 5-0 Eisenhower win over the Wildcats at Werner Park.
Vincent struck out 12 while allowing only a single in the fourth to help Ike improve to 3-5 overall.
"He didn't have his best stuff," said Knights' coach Cody Vincent. "That's where he's maturing as a pitcher; he's learning how to grind it out and win when he doesn't have his best stuff."
The Knights jumped out quick on Northwestern, which entered Thursday's game with a record of 8-1 overall.
Logan Bellardo singled to lead off the first inning and came around to score on an RBI single from Kyle Hunt. Senior first baseman Tab Berkhous followed up with an RBI double to make it a 2-0 advantage.
Hunt singled again in the third and advanced to third on a wild pick-off attempt. Berkhous was hit by a pitch and stole second, Shane Arford knocked home Hunt, and Berkhous scored when the ball was thrown away trying to catch Arford stealing.
The Knights tacked on one more in the fourth when Alex Johnson walked and scored on a wild pitch, and that would be plenty.
"(Northwestern) has always been a good team" said Vincent. "It was a good team effort. We're getting some good at-bats and fielding much better as a team."
Eisenhower returns to action at Maplewood on Friday afternoon.
