On April 15, Warren General Hospital Auxiliary hosted the hospital's adult volunteers to lunch at Holiday Inn and awarded pins for the number of hours served during the past year. The event included comments from WGH CEO John Papalia, an invocation by the Rev. Marcus Briggs, and a business meeting conducted by auxiliary president Gwenn Scutella.
The program featured the Youth Connection, a high school song and dance group from throughout Warren County. They are an outreach group of very dedicated and talented young people sponsored by the Struthers Library Theatre. Under the direction of Jenifer Check Koebley and management of Charmaine Check and assistant Logan Beard, this group donates more than 100 hours each year of community service and have fun sharing the joy of music, dance and performing. The auxiliary program was one of six the group performed Tuesday.
In 2013, 132 adult volunteers gave 13,503.50 hours of service to Warren General Hospital. Every volunteer present was thanked for their hours of service. The following volunteers received award pins from Scutella, marking their milestones at Warren General:

At the April Warren General Hospital volunteer luncheon, auxiliary president Gwenn Scutella presented three donation checks from the auxiliary: a check for $50,000 was presented to WGH CEO John Papalia for the Cancer Care Center. This was the final payment of the $150,000 pledge the Auxiliary made in 2011 to the Cancer Care Center.
A second check was presented to CEO John Papalia for $30,000 for the WGH Valet Parking Program. The program was suspended in 2013 due to economic restraints and the Auxiliary decided to take on the funding of this very useful hospital program.
The third donation was presented to the Rev. Marcus Briggs for his dedicated chaplaincy work at the hospital. The auxiliary believes his ministry and his presence at WGH help patients as well as staff.
Dues paid by auxiliary members, the many sales, basket auctions and the annual summer gala all make these donation possible. The auxiliary thanked the community for supporting their efforts.
