It's time to Paint Warren County Purple! The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee of Warren County will celebrate "Paint the County Purple" May 4-June 6. This campaign is an easy way to get involved to support county neighbors who have survived cancer and bring awareness to the fight still to be won.
County residents, businesses and schools are being asked to participate by decorating their store fronts, windows, porches, fences and lawns with items in the color purple. Ribbons and light bulbs will be available from Relay for Life team members to purchase for a nominal fee, but "Relayers" are hoping everyone will do much more. Use your imagination! Purple is the color associated with cancer survivors and the color used to represent hope for a better future for cancer patients. It also serves as the color for Relay for Life. The purple decorations are a reminder that many people in Warren County are affected by cancer, that the fight to find a cure is not over and donations are still needed to help finish the fight. It is the hope of this year's Relay for Life Committee and Teams that this campaign will be embraced county wide.
Most of us know of someone who has been affected by cancer and the struggle that comes with it. How wonderful it would be if as a community we can stand together and tell our neighbors, families, friends and patrons that we support them? How wonderful it would be if as a community we let visitors know of our commitment to our neighbors and to the fight against cancer. It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words; we hope by painting our county purple we are saying loudly and strongly we support you and we honor you to survivors and to those who lost the fight.
Paint the County Chair, Michele Albaugh and Dominica Luzzi from Team “A Family’s Promise” discuss the campaign.
