YHS Basketball Boosters will be having a lunch fundraiser on Sunday April 13 at Richard's Restaurant from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will be serving BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches, macaroni salad, baked beans and desserts all for a donation. Mark your calendar and stop by and support the YHS Basketball Boosters.
The sixth week of the Lenten services of Youngsville Area Ministerium that include worship followed by a light luncheon will be held at St Luke Church at noon on April 16. Father John Neff will preside at the service. Members of the church will host the luncheon.
Procession of the Cross
You are invited to participate in the Youngsville Good Friday procession of the cross on April 18. Gather at noon at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis St.
We will begin the procession with a short prayer service outside the church and then process in silence to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church where we will again hold a short prayer service outside. We will process through the borough stopping at each church: First United Methodist Church, St. Luke, Evangelical United Methodist and Saron Lutheran having a brief prayer service at each and ending with the service at Saron Lutheran.
Participants are asked to bring and carry crosses during the processional (size is up to each person but should be large enough to see when carried but small enough to easily carry). Each participating church is asked to bring a large cross if possible that can be carried by folks from your congregations.
You are invited to join the entire procession but if you would have difficulty walking you are encouraged to meet the procession at your church to join in the prayer service and keep the procession in prayer for the duration. It is suggested that you gather at noon to begin praying and you will be sure not to miss the procession when it arrives at your church.

The YHS gals from the class of 1968 will be gathering for their monthly lunch get-together at Richard's Restaurant in Youngsville on Monday, April 14, at 11:30 a.m. Let Deb Ritter Sumner know if you can come so she can update the reservation numbers.
Corn Festival Meeting
Next planning meeting of the Corn Festival is Tuesday, April 15 at Youngsville Borough Building, 40 Railroad St., at 9 a.m. All are welcome. Corn Festival scheduled for Aug. 15-17. For additional information, contact ROY Chairman Ron Young at 563-4722.
Youngsville Borough offices and services will be closed on Friday April 18 in observance of Good Friday.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Pittsfield Community Easter Egg hunt will be on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Field. Many prizes! We have an addition this year! The Otter Express Puppets will be performing following the hunt at the Pittsfield Community Center. Parking is available behind the community center.
The Pittsfield Community Playground is hoping to get the playground in this spring. We have enough to purchase the playground; we still will need enough for the fence. There will be a sub sale on April 12 to benefit the playground. So come by and grab a sub at the Pittsfield Otterbein Church at noon before going back out to fish! The price for the subs will be $6 a piece, 2 for $10, or 5 for $20. The choices will be turkey and cheese, or ham and cheese. Men's Golf League
Youngsville Senior Men's Golf League at Maplehurst Golf Course is accepting new members and substitute players.

The Friends of Rouse
Annual Silent Auction
The Friends of Rouse are having their Annual Silent Auction on April 26 at the Youngsville Fire Hall. It is a basket raffle, bake sale, and lunch will be available for purchase.
You may take chances on a lottery tree, (3 winners), a family basket, and put your name in for a door prize. The doors open at 11 a.m., and the winners of the baskets will be announced at 12:30 p.m.
You may buy tickets for the lottery tree from a Rouse Friends member or at Youngsville Pharmacy. Cost is 1 ticket for $1 or 8 tickets for $5 or the day of the auction. Questions contact Mary Lu Zock at 563-9310.
Spring Clean Up
Spring Clean-up will be held on May 3 at the borough building parking lot at 40 Railroad St. from 8 a.m. to noon. Minimum fees for $10/car, $20/truck; ID required.
A Night at the Races
The Friends of the Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool and the Youngsville Recreation Commission will be sponsoring "A Night at the Races" on Friday, May 2 at the Youngsville Fire Hall. Wager on action-packed, heart-pounding videotaped horse racing. Win one of many fabulous raffle prizes.
BYOB and BYO snacks (finger snacks will be provided). Don your best Kentucky Derby attire and win a prize. All betting wagers are $2 minimum. Payouts will be determined by the number of winning tickets. Payouts will go to win, place and show. Doors will open at 6 pm. You must be 21 years of age to attend.
Vacation With Purpose
going to Lithuania
Anyone interested or know of someone interested in going on a mission trip to Lithuania? We need more people! It is June 22 - July 5. The cost is $2,000, which includes everything but food in the airports. We are going to install a hot water heater in a third-story apartment and help fix up the apartment for a young girl (who is legally blind), her brother and daughter. If you are unable to go and would like to contribute to the cost of items needed, paint is very expensive in Lithuania.

Spring Sale at Saron
Saron Lutheran Church 148 W. Main St., will hold a Rummage / Bake sale on Friday May 2 and Saturday, May 3. Friday's hours are 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. till noon. Friday will be a bake sale as well from 8 a.m. till sold out. Saturday offers $1 per bag.
Saturday, May 10,will be the Love INC 3rd Annual Golf Scramble. The event will take place at Cable Hollow Golf Course, Russell, 757-4765 Registration will be at 8 a.m. Tee Time: 9 a.m. The cost is $60 per person; four-person team $240.

The revitalization is made up of dedicated volunteers who contribute their time and skills to the people who live in and around the Youngsville community. Our goals are to improve quality of life through restoring the traditional commercial area by improving existing buildings, and revitalizing older deteriorating downtown streets while supporting community events and services.
Our dream is to take our wholesome, pleasant small town and beautify it with facade improvements, bike paths, hiking trails, ballparks, a swimming pool, and any other amenity that will enhance the beauty and health of our entire community. In essence, a downtown that has all the businesses and charm needed to be self-reliant, safe, picturesque, and family-centered.
Current projects include
Bike Hike Trail We are developing an outdoor recreation trail that runs along the Brokenstraw Creek starting at Island Park and runs for so many miles and ends at the Rouse Estate corn fields. The trail needs funds for future paving.
Capital Improvement Project on East Main Street from the bridge to Bates Street. The project will begin the infrastructure replacement, traffic flow improvements and pedestrian safety improvements in the area. Your donation will be matched with other funds from the state and federal government. We are required to raise $100,000 in order to receive over $4 million in government funding.
Sewer and Water Lines replacement - The pipes on East Main Street were laid in the early 1900s. Your contribution will allow Youngsville to purchase and install new pipes on Main Street made of ductile iron. This stronger, up-to-date, flexible material will eliminate the need for constant patch-ups and save dollars in annual repairs and water leakage.
Corn Festival Community events unite the people who attend and are free to the public but there are high costs to the volunteers who must raise the funds to ensure these events.

Cinco Race Forms & Display at Youngsville Public Library
From its beginning, the Cinco Race & Walk event has actively supported the five libraries located within Warren County. Each year all race proceeds are donated to the five libraries in Warren County and are collectively used toward the purchase of library materials which, in turn, benefits all residents of Warren County. This year, registration forms, information, and displays can be found at each library in addition to their website www.runthecinco.com. The large display at Youngsville Library includes many photos of participants and well-wishers as well as registration forms.
The Cinco Races & Walks are a unique rural race that offers running races of 22.7-miles and running races and fun walks of 13.1 miles, 5 miles, 3.1 miles, and 1.5 miles. "The Cinco Event is more than just a community race and not only because of their generosity to each of our libraries," stated Library Director Kristy Wallace. "This community event is Cinco de Mayo-themed with a focus on fun for the whole family. They also offer events from bike safety, fly fishing and urban geocaching instruction to chair massages, arts activities, a magic show, storytelling, face painting and even free dashes for the kids to participate in while parents run or walk. They even have bull costumes for kids and adults to wear if you'd rather interact with the crowd!"
