DUBOIS-Warren had a lead heading into the sixth inning of its season opener against DuBois, but a late rally by the host Beavers sent the Dragons home with a 10-6 loss in Monday's non-region game.
DuBois jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings before senior right fielder Ryan Gustafson connected on a two-RBI double to pull Warren within one run.
The Dragon rally picked up in the top of the sixth with sophomore Derek Reagle notching a pinch hit single to score Mark Reiff. With the bases loaded, senior shortstop Collin Fantaskey brought in one run on a sacrifice fly, and center fielder Austin Schwanke doubled home another to give Warren its first lead.
The lead would be short lived, as the Beavers went on to score six runs in the bottom half of the inning. Gustafson singled home another run in the seventh, but that was all the Dragons would get as they start the season 0-1.
"It wasn't bad for us only being on the field one time for maybe an hour and a half," said Warren coach Rick Eaton. "There were some good things; some bad things. Those four errors hurt us and we left a lot of runners in scoring position. Errors and walks were probably the difference in the game."
Gustafson finished the day going three-for-four with three RBI and Schwanke went two-for-three with one run batted in.
The Dragons will have a quick turnaround as they head to St. Marys for another non-region game on Tuesday.
