MEADVILLE - Eisenhower had an answer for everything Rocky Grove threw at it Friday night at Meadville High School.
The Orioles didn't have an answer for Jarrett Johnson.
Johnson scored a game-high 23 points, and the Knights went on to defeat Rocky Grove by a score of 56-44 in the opening round of the District 10 Class A playoffs.

Split the difference
Eisenhower’s Tre Frank keeps his head up while splitting the Rocky Grove defense Friday at Meadville High School. Frank and the Knights defeated Rocky Grove, 56-44, to move on to the second round of the District 10 Class A playoffs.
"We actually didn't go inside as much as I would have liked," said Ike coach Dave Allenson. "Jarrett played a great game. He's a kid I've been expecting these kinds of things from; hopefully this brings him out a little bit."
In addition to his point total, Johnson and the rest of the Knights' forwards were able to control the rebounding effort for much of the game. Ike finished the first quarter on a 7-0 run, and went on to outscore the Orioles in every frame en route to the quarterfinal win. Most of Eisenhower's points came from within feet of the basket.
Following up on Johnson's effort, Chris Sanders and Tre Frank scored eight points each, while John Potts and Alex Johnson contributed six and five points off the bench, respectively.
Rocky Grove's Garrett Gannoe led his team with 21 points and Adam Kirwin added 12. Ike held the Orioles' leading scorer, sophomore guard Nate White, to just a single three-pointer.
Next up in the Knights' quest for a District 10 title is Region 3-foe Cochranton on Tuesday. The Cardinals received a first-round bye after compiling a 19-3 overall record and a 12-0 region mark, which includes a pair of wins over Eisenhower.
"We may have to hold the ball a little more than usual (against Cochranton)," said Allenson. "You certainly can't try to run with them. They have five great ballhandlers and they all shoot well."
Official sites and times of second round games will be announced once all first round games have been completed.
Erie First defeated Commodore Perry in Class A's other quarterfinal game, 56-37. Erie First advances to play Kennedy Catholic, which earned the other first-round bye after claiming a Region 1 championship during the regular season.
