UNION CITY - None Youngsville Eagles are in the semifinals of the Section 1-AA Tournament after Friday's rounds at Union City High School.
"A couple wins and they're on their way," said Youngsville coach Scott Ishman, referring also to wrestlers that lost and can wrestle back on Saturday. The top four in each weight class advance to next weekend's District 10 Class AA Championships at Sharon High School. "I'm hoping for some good stuff tomorrow."
Nate Lehman (106), Tanner Burns (132), Aaron Hoover (145), who is the No. 4 seed and earned an 11-2 decision over No. 3-seeded Glenn Gregory of North East, Zach Ishman (160), Jeremy Lyon (170), Stone Sivak (182), Austin Spear (195), Jaykup Durlin (220) and Austin Slocum (heavyweight) all advanced to Saturday's semifinals.
The top seeds: Lyon advanced with two byes, and Durlin earned a pin in less than a minute at 220 in his only match of the night.
Eisenhower's top seed, sophomore Louie Head at 152, is in the semifinals after a second-period pin over Seneca's Evan Bennett. One of only two Ike seniors, Steven Haner earned a 6-5 decision in the quarterfinals over Corry's Jonathan Hammond to advance.
