The seventh annual Library Midwinter Benefit will be held this Saturday, Jan. 25, in the Library Room at Struthers Library Theatre from 7 to 10 p.m. The price of admission is a donation to the Warren Public Library.
Those attending the event will have the opportunity to choose a new, hardcover book as a thank you for supporting this library fundraiser. The event, since it was established seven years ago, has raised nearly $70,000 for the library.
In addition to choosing a book from the selection provided, attendees will enjoy food with a Scottish theme, thanks to the "Add the Plaid" concept in honor of the Jan. 25 birthday of the late Robert Burns, Scotland's most famous poet, who is also known as "Bobby" Burns. Scones and shortbread, appetizers, Bobby Burns Brew (coffee), wine, beer, and more will be available.
There will be a silent auction. All items have been donated to the auction by local businesses and artisans. They include artwork, jewelry, a bird-themed gift basket, felted pottery, hand-knits, a ukulele, an Outdoor Alley package, and more. The auction will end at the conclusion of the event. Successful bidders will be announced beginning at 10 p.m.
