FALCONER, N.Y. - Three Sheffield Wolverines and three Eisenhower Knights are in the semifinals without a loss after Friday's action at the Falconer Tournament.
Sheffield's Kole Holden (106), Ricky Prosen (126) and Doug Grubbs (145) are in the semis for Sheffield, and Tyler Gourley (138), Louie Head (152) and Robbie Wilston (160) for Eisenhower.
Sheffield coach Jack Rice said the Wolverines didn't get the greatest seedings at the New York tournament, but all 12 wrestlers remain alive in the tourney, including Tanner Barr at 120, Kyle Holden 132, Brian Fries 138, Dakota Schooler 160, Cody Anderson 182, Colton Capriotti 195, Levi Bloom 220, and Jeremy Ehrgott heavyweight.
"The boys have had some very tough matches," said Eisenhower coach Greg Goruley. "I think we are looking great as a team with some surprises falling both ways. Still alive for us in the wrestle backs are Justin Repke, 99, Steven Haner, 126, Levi Stanko, 145, John Hummel, 170, Alex LaBarr, 182, Seth Brendlinger, 195, and Hunter McNutt, 220.
"Now the guys have to strap on their head gear and be ready to wrestle tomorrow," said Gourley. "Each match is only going to get tougher from here on out. I know the boys have it in them now they just have to believe in themselves and go out there and get it done."
