On Dec. 17, the Material Scrappers 4-H Sewing Club sang for 23 residents of the Suites at Rouse in Youngsville. Katelyn Bennett opened the program with "Go Tell It on the Mountain" on piano. Leader Virginia Loizeaux accompanied members on her guitar as they sang eight traditional carol tunes with faith-based lyrics from the Children's Bible Hour Radio Program. Microphones and amplifier were provided by Ed DeRemer, long-time friend of 4-H.
Melissa Bennett played "Silent Night" and "Seek Ye First" on piano. Katie Downs played guitar for her trio with Melissa and Katelyn Bennett, singing "Heart of Worship," "Away in a Manger," "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High" and "How Great is our God." Members Kara Haight, Jessy Taylor and Alex Turbide sang with the rest of the club. Leader Virginia Loizeaux accompanied herself on guitar singing "Come to God Like the Children Do," written by Priscilla White. Katelyn Bennett closed the program by playing piano accompaniment for members and residents to all sing together, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
After serving refreshments and visiting with the residents, members enjoyed their own gift exchange and played a game of spoons, according to news reporter Kara Haight.
