The Court Appointed Special Advocates third annual "Lift Our Voice, Lift a Child's Life," concert will be held at Struthers Library Theatre in downtown Warren on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Admission is free, though donations will be accepted at the door. The concert will benefit the local CASA group which provides support to local children in foster care.
This year's concert will include the First Lutheran Church Joyful Sounds Handbell Choir, the Conewango Clippers, Dance Express Company, The Chautauqua Shores Chorus, Reflections from Eisenhower High School, Lil Hunkele, Noteworthy, Youth Connection, Logan Norris Beard, Devon Meddock, Warren First United Methodist Church Madrigal Singers, and Ellen Paquette and the Celtic harp.
Choir members prepare for last year’s concert.
"We are so excited this year with the line-up. We have singing and dancing, bells and instruments. It will be a wonderful show," CASA Director Lisa Thompson said. "We are so pleased to have some of the same performers for the third year in a row. The Conewango Clippers, The Chautauqua Shores Chorus and Warren First United Methodist Church Madrigal Singers have been with us every year. The additions this year will make for a truly amazing Christmas experience."
The only thing standing between the opportunity for residents to enjoy the show?
All funds will go directly to CASA, Thompson said.
When the concert originally started, Thompson said she just pictured performances from singers from churches and local organizations.
It quickly "expanded beyond the choir," she said.
The name of the benefit comes from the phrase "A child's voice. A child's life. Lifted up. By you," which has become a statement used by CASA nationwide. The mission of the group is to give a voice to those children who are going through the foster care system.
CASA volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. CASA is unique in that it utilizes volunteers in a system that is currently under-funded and overwhelmed, Thompson said.
Bill Hill will host the concert for the third year in a row.
