Sheffield High School graduate Nick Bonavita has 50 tackles, two interceptions for 22 yards, six pass breakups and a forced fumble as a sophomore starting strong safety for Division III Juniata College.
For the first time in the program's history, Juniata will play on Saturday in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) bowl game - the Southwest Bowl, at 1 p.m. at Albright College. This is the third postseason appearance in the program's history for Juniata, 7-3 in the regular season.

Juniata has not made a postseason appearance since the 1973 team played for a national championship. It is almost storybook that on the 40th anniversary year of the first Stagg Bowl that Juniata makes the postseason again. The only other postseason appearance was in the 1956 Tangerine Bowl.
Warren Area High School graduate Colter Johnson had four punts for 149 yards (37.2 average) in Division I University of Massachusetts' 14-13 loss to visiting Akron University on Saturday. He had two punts inside his opponent's 20-yard line.
Warren Area High School graduate Katie Spade was 91st out of 358 female runners Saturday as a Penn State Behrend senior at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Mideast Regional in Bethlehem, Pa., finishing the 6K in 23:31.
Warren Area High School graduate Ellis Beardsley was 58th out of 137 female runners on Nov. 2 as a freshman for Mount Union's women's cross country team at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships at Otterbein University, finishing the 6K in 25:42.6.
Youngsville High School graduate T.J. Hardy, in addition to handling kickoffs, had a 30-yard field goal and an extra point as a freshman for Division II Edinboro University in a 41-10 loss on Saturday at Kutztown.
Youngsville High School graduate Jamie Hannold won the 500-yard freestyle event in 6:49.62 for Pitt-Bradford's women's swim team in a meet vs. Alfred University on Saturday at Pitt-Bradford. Hannold also teamed with Warren Area High School graduate Hannah Crone and two others to finish second in the 200 free relay, among other events. Hannold and Crone swam for the Warren Dragons swim team in high school.
Warren Area High School graduate Tyler Fantaskey had 10 points in the Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team's loss against Baptist Bible College in the opening round of the Misericordia Tournament on Nov. 15. On Nov. 16, Fantaskey pitched in 13 points and six rebounds in a win over Marywood.
Warren Area High School graduate Hollie Rapp is an assistant coach with the Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team. Rapp was a three-year starter for the Lady Panthers, and spent the 2012-2013 season as a student assistant before being promoted in the offseason.
Warren Area High School graduate Charlie Thomas scored three points in Thiel College's season-opening win over Lynchburg, and 10 points in a loss to Catholic. On Wednesday night, Thomas added another 10 points and three rebounds in the Tomcats' 82-58 loss to Division I Youngstown State.
Warren-native Anna Wenger is a senior member of the two-time defending state champion Hempfield High School volleyball team in the Lancaster, Pa. area. Wenger, a 6-1 outside/right side hitter, had more than 350 kills her senior season, including 18 kills and 12 digs in a 3-2 win over the second-ranked team in the state, Cumberland Valley, in the PIAA Class AAA championship.
Wenger, who played her freshman year for coach Mike Dolan and Warren Area High School, which advanced to the District 10 Class AA playoffs that year, will attend Division I Akron University on a full athletic scholarship in the fall. Wenger is the lone freshman signee for 2014 for the Zips.
"My staff and I are ecstatic to announce that Anna has chosen to be a Zip," said Akron Zips coach Ron Arenz. "She brings the attributes necessary to elevate our program in the Mid-American Conference and has the ability to make an impact very early in her career."
In addition to volleyball while at Warren, Wenger advanced to districts in both swimming and track.
In addition to the Marion Catholic vs. Cochranton PIAA Class A final at 5 p.m., and Delone Catholic vs. Fort LeBoeuf Class AA final at 7 p.m., a replay of the Hempfield vs. Cumberland Valley Class AAA state final will be broadcast at 9 p.m. Saturday on PCN Network (channel 42 on Youngsville Cable and chanel 13 on Atlantic Broadband).
