Free Books for Kids Town
Visitors look over the Free Books for Kids Town offerings Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Warren Mall. Almost 400 youngsters received free books at the mall location, with 500 more finding books at other sites in the county.
The organization gave away more than 900 books on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Those books found their way into the hands of more than 750 Warren County children, according to Free Books for Kids Town founder Ruby Wiles.
"We made a difference," she said. "We had over 33 sites all across Warren County - as far north as Lottsville, Akeley, and Sugar Grove, as far southwest as Grand Valley, as far southeast as Sheffield, and Youngsville, too."
"Because of a scheduling conflict, our efforts went into extra innings with Tidioute receiving books the next weekend," Wiles said.
At Warren Mall alone, more than 375 children picked up books.
There were two sites substantially outside the county.
"Our efforts also included book giveaways in the Bronx, N.Y., and Valladolid, Spain," Wiles said. "Altogether we gave close to 1,000 books away."
"Thanks to everyone who worked with us," Wiles said. "You made a difference to the children in our county."
