I would like to weigh in on the TPA (Bed Tax Distribution) issue from a traveler's point of view. My concern with making WCCBI the travel promoter for Warren County has to do with location of the Information Center. When Mr. Decker was asked what would happen to the building in Starbrick if his group took over, he replied that they would try to make some arrangement with the WCVB to take over the building and the debt. If that could not be arranged, then the Vacation Information Center would be at his location on Market Street.
My husband and I have traveled a lot during our 52 years of marriage. 44 years of that travel was with some type of camper. We used Information Centers extensively and found wonderful places that we would have missed otherwise. However, I can count on one hand the number of times we stopped at such a Center that was located in the center of town without a Parking area. Direction signs to the location of an in-town Center might help, but travelers are looking for convenience not another challenge to test their ability in a travel scavenger hunt for information.
A BIG plus for the current building is its location in nearly the center of the County on Rt. 6 with a large parking area. The WCVB building is not without problems, but they are easy fixes as I look at them via a traveler's eye. One problem is that the building sits back from the highway a bit making it easy to miss. Signs alerting travelers in advance that there is an information center ahead would help. The second problem is the layout in the main room. That could be corrected by consulting with a visual, market merchandising specialist.
The County Commissioners and County Municipalities would be wise to have the Location Issue resolved before making their decisions on who gets the Bed Tax money. As the Real Estate Agents say, "It's All about Location, Location, Location".
The political cartoon on page A4 of October 25th WTO spoke volumes.
I recently saw in interview with one of the congressmen who voted for fiscal sanity (allegedly responsible for shutting the government down). The interviewer asked, "Do you hate Obamacare more than you love your country?"
I believe that the appropriate response would have been, "Do you really hate your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than you love deficit spending?" Of course the interviewer would him-haw, and side step the issue of fiscal sanity entirely. He would deny the reality of our current situation and the fact that Obamacare is only going to make it worse to satisfy the ego of a narcissistic, freedom-hating socialist. He would deny the seriousness of a 17 trillion dollar (and rising) debt.
I'd like to say that, for him, with regards to government spending the sky is the limit. That would not be appropriate because the sky actually DOES have a limit. The Earth's atmosphere ends with the exosphere at about 360 miles up. For our government, there is no limit. Oddly enough, a stack of just ONE trillion one-dollar bills would be 67,000 miles tall. We've got $17T, and growing!
So why don't our elected leaders do anything to reverse the trend? Any effort to do so is met with derision and accusations of wanting our nation to default on its just debts. I've got serious news for you. Unless we end the insane, out-of-control spending NOW and make an effort to pay down our just debt, our national economy cannot be sustained. All of the well-intended social programs will vanish overnight and then what will happen? The well IS going to run dry. Our dollar will be worth less than the Reich Marks of the '20s and '30s Germany. For now, no one seems to care. It reminds me of Miss Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind". "Oh, fiddle-dee-dee. I won't think about that now. I'll think about that tomorrow." Guess what Scarlett? Tomorrow is HERE.
Please objectively research this issue yourself and remember it in the 2014 election.

First, I would like to extend a big "Thank You" to all the people who participate in the annual river and highway clean ups.
Now, for the slobs who continue to dump their trash on Collins Pine Company land along the Big Four Road and Conewango Creek or anywhere else, this is notice that if we catch you, we will prosecute. It has happened 3 times since the River Cleanup in September. The latest being a load of old roofing material.
We are asking for help from the public. If you have information regarding these incidents, please contact the state police, the PA Game Commission or our office in Kane.

I agree with Pastor Crossley we should have Gospel Music look where Elvis got his start in Gospel Music he may have shook his hips alot but all said and done he thanked our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all that was given to him.
Yes we are a land of the free, but why has Jesus taken a back seat in our lives.
I love all music Im a big fan of the Just for fun Polka band they are from Kane and should play Music in the Park.
We know also Santa Claus is important to kids but should be in the form of who he really was, St. Nicholas of Myra, and he was a giver and doer.
Jesus loves all of us he is for everyone he's one of a kind, one size fits all try him on he'll stay forever.
