After starting the season 5-4 and winning the school's first Allegheny Mountain League North title since 1964, five Sheffield Wolverines were named to the AML North All-Star team this past Monday.
To be selected, players are nominated by their own coaches, and the rest of the coaches vote on players by position. Once nominated, coaches cannot vote for their own players.
Offensively, senior Calvin Sutton and sophomore Jareke Jackson were chosen by the league's coaches at guard and running back, respectively. Jackson has 780 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in his first season in the black and orange.
On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Tommy Reeves was selected as a defensive tackle, junior Adam Higby was selected at safety, and senior Noah Heeter was chosen at defensive end. Reeves has 60 tackles and four sacks on the year, Higby has seven interceptions and 35 tackles, and Heeter has 87 tackles and six sacks.
The Wolverines will look for their first AML championship this Friday when they travel to Kane to take on the South Division-champion Wolves.
