FAIRVIEW - Playoff-bound Warren scored first, but lost, 5-2, in a non-region match at Fairview on Tuesday.
"Other than the goals, you would have thought we would have won," said Warren coach Tom Harrington, whose Dragons outshot Fairview, 19-17. He said they played well in stretches, but what counts is the number of goals scored.
Quinn Boger scored first for Warren - off an assist from Ben Auzou - 22 minutes into the match. But Fairview, a Class A team out of Region 3, led at the break.
"We were pushing some guys up a little more forward than we otherwise would (in an effort to make up the deficit)" said Harrington, whose Dragons are 5-9-1 overall.
Quinn Boger, this time from his brother, Tristan Boger, scored the second half goal for Warren, which plays McDowell on the road on Thursday.
"We want to come out and play well and be ready for the playoffs on Monday," said Harrington.
Despite a losing record, after starting 0-7, Warren finishes 5-2-1 and as the top District 10 team in Region 4, qualifying for the District 10 Class AA playoffs. Region 4 champion Bradford plays in the District 9 playoffs.
Eisenhower 1, Maplewood 0
Both of Eisenhower's wins have come against Maplewood after a 1-0 Region 3 victory on Monday at Eisenhower High School.
Sidney Wallin scored the lone goal for Ike (2-12-2), on an assist from Jessica Jameson. Maplewood is 0-15-1 overall.
Tiffany Work scored the lone junior varsity goal for Eisenhower, also in a 1-0 win.
The Knights' final match of the season is at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cambridge Springs (6-11).
