The Ruth M. Smith Center continues its mission to serve dependent children, youth, families and the elderly. In our 91st year our professional staff serves up to 30 adults in need of assistance with daily living. Our campus houses three Personal Care Homes licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare, providing economical, safe and supportive living for elderly and physically or mentally challenged adults. We give assistance in a home like atmosphere to those who need care beyond the basic necessities of food and shelter such as medication administration and assistance with daily living skills. Our residents work and socialize in the community enjoying an enhanced quality of life. This year we have added a respite program to help give a needed break to those who care for loved ones in their home.
We have a licensed Day Care and Preschool, offering learning and growth opportunities for infants and children through organized educational curriculum, recreation, socialization and free play. Our staff works with area children year round.
The Campus also has a Recreation Center with a full gym, exercise room and meeting room. This facility is used by people of all ages and provides a great place for indoor recreation in the winter months and bad weather. Many different athletic teams use this building for practices. In addition we are going to begin to offer special interest classes to the local community.
The Sheffield Area Food Bank is housed in the lower level of one of our residential buildings. This food bank is staffed by community volunteers and assists county families.
We are very fortunate to be an agency that benefits from the United Fund of Warren County and are very thankful for the wonderful support and contributions received from this campaign. Please help us continue to create smiles!
