Esther M. Vanderhoof, 81, of 701 Rouse Avenue Youngsville, Pa., and formerly of Garland, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, October 15th, at her residence. Esther was born in Tiona, Pa. on January 17, 1932, a daughter of the late Luella (Holmes) Walters Rea and Lyle Walters. She was employed at Warren County School District at the Pittsfield Elementary School retiring many years ago.
Esther enjoyed reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, traveling and going to London and wintering in Florida and especially going to the beach in Outer Banks in North Carolina. She was the widow of Norman Vanderhoof whom she married On Feb. 4, 1950, and who died March 27, 2001.
Surviving are two Daughters, Norma (Ronald) Thomas, of Winterhaven, FL, and Carol (John) Ziegler, of Tidioute, Pa. Half Brother William Rea, of Youngsville; 4 grandchildren, Francine Gumina of Ormond Beach, Florida, Vincent (Rachel McDonald) Gumina of Macon Georgia, Jennifer (Brad) Nuttall of Tidioute, and Robert (Catherine Petel) Ziegler of Tidioute and Montreal; 2 great grandchildren, Kelsey and Marlee Nuttall of Tidioute and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Vanderhoof in 1950, 1 brother, Robert Walters, and 1 sister, Eunice Strickland.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 4 8 pm. at the McKinney Funeral Home in Youngsville. where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, October 20th, with Rev. Ralph Culp officiating. Burial will be private in Youngsville Cemetery.
