MILLCREEK-The Lady Dragons' tennis team finished its regular season against District 10 powerhouse McDowell on Tuesday, losing to the Trojans four games to one.
Warren's point came courtesy of Kim Parroccini and Megan Waterfield, who won a doubles match over McDowell's Elise Heinlein and Nicole Smith 6-3, 6-4.
"Megan was dominant from the back-court and Kim was overpowering at the net," said Dragons' coach Jeff Bartsch. "Our kids had their sights on this match since they played this team in Warren over five weeks ago."
Senior Corie Eckman was swept by three-time D10 AAA singles champion Adrianna Jeffress in first singles, Cassie Johnson dropped a hardfought battle with Lauren Fadden, and Maggi Hansen fell to McDowell's Larissa Chen.
"McDowell has very good singles players and all three will be seeded highly in the upcoming D10 singles championships on Saturday," said Bartsch.
Alexis Vavala and Shoshanna Ochocki dropped a tough doubles decision to Rachel Daugherty and Mikela Josic.
The pair of Rachel Cecco and Sarah Casey were 8-6 winners in exhibition doubles play, and the senior duo of Karly Taylor and Sydney Ewing also cruised to a 8-2 victory. Phoebe Nelson recorded a singles win with a 6-4 victory in the final set.
The Lady Dragons will return to the practice court in preparation for Saturday's class AA District 10 singles tournament. Competing for Warren will be seniors Eckman, Johnson and Hansen. The doubles event will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at the Pennbriar Club in Erie.
