The Boy Scouts of America will hold its 56th Annual JOTA (Jamboree-on-the-Air) Oct. 19 - 20.
This year's event is being hosted by Chief Cornplanter's newly formed Venture Crew 73 and The Chief Cornplanter Amateur Radio Group (KB3BSA). It will be held at the Mark Durnell Campmaster's Cabin at Camp Olmsted (first building on left near main gate).
Jamboree-on-the-Air, or JOTA, is an annual Scouting event that uses amateur radio to link Scouts around the world, around the nation, and in your own community. The World Scout Bureau reported that the 2012 JOTA had nearly 700,000 Scout participants from more than 13,500 amateur radio stations around the world! The event is open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and adult leaders, family, and friends. Operations will be from 10 a.m. on Saturday until 5 p.m. and continue Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants should take their own food and drink.
