The Lady Dragon golfers took third place in their final regular season match on Thursday afternoon, finishing with a team score of 219 at Jackson Valley Golf Course.
Warren's Megan Smoulder tied for the day's low score of 44, with Ellen Eighmy and Lindsey Swanson of McDowell and Meadville's Lacey Latta. Smoulder's season total of 172 over matches and 36 holes was second only to Latta, and her finish automatically qualifies her for next month's District 10 tournament as one of the top eight golfers in Region 3. The rest of the Lady Dragons will have a chance to join Smoulder by finishing in the top four at next week's district qualifier.
"The ladies played collectively well tonight and I applaud their efforts," said Warren coach Tom Smoulder. "I am very confident one or more of them should qualify next week at the district qualifier. Plus, I definitely have to mention Meggie's first place and her achieving such a high ranking this evening. As a coach I feel honored, and as a dad I feel blessed."
As for the rest of the Warren golfers, Libby Hammond shot a 56 on the day, Clancy Fyock shot a 59, Meghan Loutzenhiser shot a 60, Ashlee McClure a 66, and Anna Fitzsimmons a 75.
McDowell edged Meadville by a single stroke to win the match with a score of 181.
