Raging fire

September 17, 2013
The Times Observer

City of Warren Firefighters battle a raging blaze at 1008 Fourth Ave. Monday night. The initial call went out shortly before 9 p.m. The building, called by some the old cheese factory, was reportedly unoccupied and used only as storage. Firefighters from a number of volunteer departments, including North Warren, Pleasant, Glade, Clarendon, and Starbrick, responded to the fire. City of Warren Police officers were called in to move spectators back at least one block. Neighboring houses were evacuated and emergency services received a call at about 9:30 p.m. that large burning embers were landing on houses on Pennsylvania Avenue. A state police fire marshal was called to the scene.
