A week earlier, Nathan Sandberg was second overall at his Region 3 Megamatch, but his 18-hole 84 at Grove City Country Club was 10 strokes off the medalist, Grove City's Matt Gordon on his home course. Fast-forward to this past Tuesday, when Sandberg owned his home course at Blueberry Hill, earning medalist honors with an 18-hole 74, this time one stroke ahead of Gordon. Sandberg, the Times Observer's Male Athlete of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's, and teammate Andrew Gignac, who shot a 76, helped lead the Warren boys golf team to its best finish of the season - a second-place finish at its home Region 3 Megamatch, just one stroke behind region champ Meadville. Sandberg was resting his back on Thursday, getting ready for everything he's got at next month's District 10 individual championships.
